I'm Tigger bitches!

I love a diverse weekend... A little bit of work, a little bit of play and whole lot of yay!

I hookied out of work on Friday for kid crisis, fixed kid crisis and then we went and killed paper dudes at an indoor shooting range. How amazing is the feeling of holding a gun in your hands for the first time? Awesome! It wasn't actually my first time with a gun but it has been years. It was, however, daughter's first time. She was scared shitless and almost in tears when we entered the shooting area. The noise was insanely loud and with every BANG she cowered a little closer to the corner of the room. I shot a 9mm and she ended up with .22 calibre rifle. How cute is that? My first shot landed right between the eyes of my paper dude and most others went into his throat with a few in the gut for good measure. Child aimed mostly for the shoulder with a few stray shots into the heart. Once she got a few shots off, she was comfy enough and feeling a little more confident; when she was finished, she was pumped and ready for a bigger gun. 9mm for her next time I think.

We left the range feeling empowered and bonded. After a little rest it was time for the Jane Austen book club meeting. Quite a difference... quiet, mellow and full of discussion not about Sense and Sensibility but of 50 Shades of Grey. I NEED to read this book as do some others. We will be meeting in July to discuss. Imagine a bunch of horny women sitting around a table, drinking wine, eating munchies and discussing erotica... This will be more my speed I think. Don't get me wrong, Jane Austen is great but I am more about S&M than manners and good breeding. Who knew?

Saturday morning brought work... It amazes me what happens when I am absent for one day. The work that piles up is enough to give me a heart attack when I enter the warehouse. I was pissed off for many reasons and really just wanted to go home. After a good vent session with my boys, I felt a little better but was still somewhat disheartened. A dent in my car door, a safety hazard and a pile of paper to deal with did not make for a great work day but the sun was shining through the open door, the music was loud and I had the rest of the day to look forward to.

Once home, there were kids, grown-ups, a trampoline and at least seven hours of sunshine left in the day. Throwing two adults and four kids on a trampoline is most definitely an interesting experiment. I have learnt this weekend that peeing before getting on and bouncing is a better option than the alternative. If it's this bad now, what will it be like when I'm a senior?!? Ima gonna hafta wear a diaper!

The evening brought a trip to the movie theatre to see The Avengers. If you have not seen this movie, see it immediately. Fan-fucking-tastic! I bet Fox is kicking themselves for cancelling Firefly now. Idiots. I am really not a fan of the whole comic book genre of movies but Joss Whedon did a great job making this accessible for all audiences whether or not they had seen any of the other movies; Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, etc.. When you do see it, make sure to stick around until after the credits. It's worth it, trust me.

The sound of two eleven year old girls squealing outside on the trampoline awoke me from my peaceful slumber at 8:30 on a Sunday morning... I was less than impressed. Coffee with mother and Auntie followed and then a day of power washing, bouncing, napping and BBQing. All my plans for hiking and biking went completely out the window. I was quite content just hanging about at home and getting stuff done. Child was happy with friend, dog was happy in the dirt and I was a bloody, muddy mess. Burgers on the BBQ and a bum war with child rounded out the day and now everybody is snug as a bug in a rug and ready for bed.

Overall a very peaceful weekend with a whole lot of bouncing, a lot of diversity and great visuals.
