As stated... I'm just a girl....

...in a male dominated position and office. Fifty+ dudes, three chicks. I guess you could say my job is traditionally "men's work". Well I say, "Fuck that!' And fuck you to those who truly believe the bullshit gender stereotyping that is spoon fed to us from the moment we slide our way out of the womb (or are pulled out the gut) of our poor mothers. If I hear one more time that I don't really want to be doing what I do, surely there is less strenuous work for me to be doing or you sit down and let me handle that, I am going to use my kickboxing training on the next man's balls that dares say it. Not only that, my educated brain will send word signals to my mouth and he will not even understand the sounds coming out. I can say "fuck", "douche" and "cocksucker" with the best of them but I highly doubt they could keep up with "misogynistic, condescending sack of santorum."(Thanks for triggering that word memory Dances With Bass)

I'll be a little bit fair and admit that sometimes I wear dresses and heels to work... There are days I just wanna be pretty. Today was one of those days. So there I am, dress and two inch wedge booties, hauling boxes and equipment around the stockroom. Cool right? You'd think, however, these guys would not stop with the patronisation. Finally, my moment came; I was able to somewhat embarrass a guy by carrying his equipment out of the stockroom and to the desk to be processed. He had separated his shoulder and was attempting to act macho about carrying the load. I have never seen a guy turn so red and I have had many opportunities to humiliate men in my lifetime. I also managed to point out the fact that I did all of this in heels and didn't even break a sweat. It's amazing how a small move like that can shut a bunch of walking, talking penises up.

While I am not in the habit of hurting male pride and bruising egos, sometimes it just has to be done. I would imagine that some simple-minded sloth is going to come up with the brilliant idea that I am a man-hating dyke and he/she/it will be completely wrong and ignorant to what I am saying here. I love men; they do and have done great things for me but sometimes there are a few that ruin it for others for a moment in time.

The moral of the story is...? You guessed it! In most cases, women can do anything men can. We may require more training (strength usually) or in my case higher heels to reach the top shelf but we can do it. On the other side of the coin, men can do anything a woman can do, except breastfeed and give birth but that is a whole other post...

In celebration of being both feminine and strong, I give you my new shoes! (and yes, I will be wearing them to work)
