Dear Snow..I love you but...

...you make people do stupid things.

I was one of the lucky ones that was able to enjoy the snow before everybody woke up and started driving. It was a nice peaceful drive to work this morning at 5:30am; cruising along at about 30km/h, taking my time and loving the soft glow of street lamps on the freshly fallen powder. That all came to a screeching halt when out of nowhere, some asshole in an SUV decided to rape my car's ass. Me being me, I slowed right down hoping he might pass me. Nope. I guess he was too scared to venture over the snowbank with his SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE. I could have pulled over into one of the snowbanks on the side of the road but thought better of it as I drive a Honda Fit. My little car goes pretty damn good in the snow but it is not a plough. He continued this behaviour until he finally worked up the courage to pass me. You would think that as I was going about 20 km/h, it wouldn't take much to pass me, right? Wrong. Apparently it is more beneficial to pass at about 60 or 70 km/h. Imagine my laughter when I discovered the same prick spun out into a ditch about five minutes later.

Ha ha motherfucker! How do you like your SUV now?

See, this is the thing with people that drive these monstrosities; they think they are invincible in the snow. All season tires and four wheel drive do not make you a good snow driving candidate. Common sense, brake tapping and turning your wheel into the skid are what make you a good winter driver. If you are scared or not experienced in snow driving, STAY HOME! I am sure work or the mall can do without your presence for one day.

I hate SUVs as it is but when it snows, I hate them even more. What is worse than driving down the street, nice and careful, when all of sudden...!!!SPLASH!!! some dumbfuck in an SUV or truck drives past you, going the other way too fast and sprays dirty slush all over your windshield rendering it impossible for you to see in already bad conditions? Fuck you, get a bigger penis if you need to prove something.

Anyway.. I did make it to work in one piece, as did my car. In fact, I got to cruise around a bit and make a  running start at getting into the parking lot as I was the first person there this morning. Awesome. Once again, my car is kick ass. So is the driver, I must admit.

On a different note, my dog loves the snow. She frolics, she sniffs, she woofs, she chases the snowballs made by her paws. She really is a delight to watch. I love to see doggie prints in the snow, especially when they are the first prints. I truly believe she is at her most joyful when the ground is blanketed in the cold, white fluff. A happy doggie means a happy mum.

And then there is the cat....
