So I just got a phone call from daughter's school...
Apparently she was in the change room with another girl and turned the lights out, touched her on the shoulder and scared her. The girl screamed and another girl came in and they proceeded to mess around and play Bloody Mary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_%28folklore%29
1. Why the FUCK is the school calling me?
2. How is this strange behaviour?
3. Didn't we and tweens before us do the same shit?
I didn't know whether to be angry, annoyed or to laugh my ass off.
The school wanted me to know that touching people is inappropriate behaviour, especially in the dark. I didn't say that I agree with them but simply thanked them for telling me. The school counsellor seemed to be expecting more from me but he sure as hell wasn't going to get it.
I immediately sent my closest friends a message stating pretty much the same thing as above and was completely vindicated. They all thought it was as silly as I did and went as far as to say society is going to hell. Just the other day, a friend and I were walking and talking about the fact that kids probably don't do graduation pranks anymore. We were unsure why but this incident pretty much explains it. Kids are taught to be wimps and whiners and to be fearful of everything. They need to learn consequences, I agree, but adults tattling on them about the most minuscule of things is ridiculous. I always say there are battles to fight and battles to walk away from and I truly believe that childish pranks are not worth the fight.
When I picked my daughter up from school, her first words to me were, "Mom, I'm not a lesbian." I laughed so hard, tears were forming in the corners of my eyes. I explained that the thought never once crossed my mind and that the whole thing was ridiculous. She then told me that she knew that would be my reaction. Even she realises how stupid and senseless the phone call was. A chip off the old Mommy block I guess.
Why are we forced to appease the masses and PCers when we know how moronic their behaviour is? Is it because it's not worth the battle I mentioned previously? When did dealing with adult humans become the same as dealing with children? I truly weep for the future.

Toooooooooooo funny!!!! That's most likely the same reaction I would have had if the school had called me to tattle on you.

Thank goodness... it's nice to know I'm not underreacting.
